What is
Paint PROTECTION Film?
Our industry standard paint protection consists of a film we apply to the paint work or wrap of your vehicle. This outer layer can be applied to plastic, rubber, paint or even a new car wrap. It is made up of three layers, and is preceded by a ‘release liner’ we use to apply the paint protection adhesive. Once the release liner is removed, the adhesive is exposed. This adhesive sticks more strongly to the paint protection layer than to your car, meaning the entire film can be removed whenever you choose much easier and without damaging the paint beneath.
After the adhesive is in place, the next layer to be applied is a 0.5mm polyurethane cladding. This absorbs the force of any small projectiles or road debris, completely protecting the paint work underneath. The material dissipates the impact of projectiles over a wider surface area, preventing the paint from chipping.
The polyurethane layer is porous and prone to discolouration over time. To prevent this, we add a harder, clear coat to seal the surface and add self-healing, anti-chemical properties to the film.
How Is Paint Protection 'Self Healing?'
One of the reasons our paint protection film is so incredible is the fact it can ‘self-heal’ following stone impacts or scratches. When the car is scratched, the outer layer of the film actually fills in the damaged area when exposed to heat.
Unlike paint, paint protection film is slightly stretchy and more durable. When a projectile or scratches damages the film, the surface area is simply moved around slightly (unlike paint, which is brittle and will chip on impact).
When exposed to heat, the ‘damaged’ area just re-settles on the surface of the vehicle, leaving it looking good as new.
The film can self-heal very nasty scratches and stone chips, but in the event of severe trauma to the surface of the vehicle, the damaged film can be removed and replaced, leaving the paint work completely intact.

How is Paint Protection Applied?
The process of applying paint protection film to your vehicle is very labour intensive, but very much worth it, considering the benefits. Here’s how we go about applying the film to your vehicle.
First, we thoroughly clean the vehicle, rinse it and then clean again with industry specific cleaner. This is to remove any possibility of dust or grit getting under your protective film. We then carry out a light polish so your paint work is looking the best it can before the film is applied.
The next step is to cut out the paint protection film according to your car body panelling. We do this with the assistance of computer software to get the exact specs for your protective layer. For more difficult wraps (for example, irregular car body shapes), we will need to manually customise the cut ourselves to get the perfect fit. The film is then cut with our automated printer according to the specifications we plot on the computer.
Next, we begin applying the ‘release liner’, a temporary layer which is soon removed to reveal the adhesive underneath. After this is completed, we position the protective coating on the panel and use an alcohol spray to ensure the best adhesion to the paint work.
After the wrap is in place, we use a soft plastic squeegee to press the layer onto the car’s surface and bind it in place. After the panels are covered, we tuck the edges of the wrap under the panel and use adhesive promoter to seal it in place, giving a seamless and extremely strong hold.
We repeat this process for all the desired panels of your vehicle, leaving an invisible but extremely strong protective layer on your the surface. You won’t even know it’s there, and you can drive at ease knowing that your pride and joy is protected!
